窜辞谤谩 means "sunrise" in Bulgarian, perfectly suited to the rich sound and wistful beauty of this ensemble. The program featured Beethoven鈥檚 String Quartet No. 15 in A Minor, written by the composer after a long, nearly fatal illness. Also included was Mendelssohn鈥檚 String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor, Op. 13, one of his most passionate works, paying homage to Beethoven while taking the cyclic organization of the master鈥檚 late quartets into radically new directions.
