Among the many opportunities available to students in Bryn Mawr鈥檚 Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program is the chance to apply to certain medical schools early through 鈥渢he consortial option.鈥 If accepted, they can start medical school immediately following the completion of their year at Bryn Mawr.
This past summer, the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine became the 18th consort school and the first dental school to join the program in many years. While the program sometimes enrolls pre-dental students in the class, these individuals have not had a linkage option available to them since a previous linkage with Penn Dental ended more than a decade ago.
Olivia Sheridan, DMD, is the assistant dean for admissions at the school and a 1986 graduate of Bryn Mawr鈥檚 postbac program. She successfully 鈥渓inked鈥 to Penn Dental herself before the program was eventually disbanded, and it has been a priority of Sheridan鈥檚 and of Postbac Director Glenn Cummings to reinstate the program.
鈥淚 know first hand the quality and rigor of the Bryn Mawr postbac program,鈥 says Sheridan. 鈥淚鈥檝e had the privilege of working with and teaching other postbac alums at Penn Dental Medicine and very much look forward to many more years of alliance.鈥
